Beowulf Mining confirms high-grade iron ore at Kallak project in Sweden

Beowulf Mining PLC announced that recent metallurgical test work at its Kallak iron ore project in Sweden has confirmed the production of a high-grade iron ore concentrate. The tests demonstrated that Kallak can produce an exceptionally high-grade concentrate with over 68% iron content, and impurity levels below 3.7% silica and 0.23% alumina. This aligns with previous assumptions that Kallak’s concentrate is suitable for the green steel sector.

The test work, conducted in preparation for the Kallak pre-feasibility study, also indicated that the concentrate could be upgraded to over 70% iron with low silica levels. This makes it ideal for modern, lower-carbon steel-making processes, such as the direct reduced iron-electric arc furnace route. The process utilizes conventional technology, physical separation methods, and produces a single product, offering several significant advantages.

CEO Ed Bowie highlighted that the results are being used to design the full industrial flow-sheet, including equipment sizing, to further advance the Kallak project.
